It may be deep summer and hotter than Hades, but Brand Connections is thinking snow with its purchase of SkiView, an outdoor advertising company. By combining SkiView with its own Keeplan Winter Sports, the Montclair, N.J.-based media and marketing company has created Brand Connections Snow Sports, the largest snow sports media company in North America.

Place-based media networks as an alternative to traditional media have become increasingly popular with advertisers looking to target busy consumers. In addition to the expanded Snow Sports network, Brand Connections also offers advertisers a network of golf resorts, time shares, hotels and cruise lines.

"Our expertise in reaching consumers when they are most receptive, when they have the time to effortlessly engage with your brand, combined with the tremendous reach of this network, creates a new option for brand marketers and advertising agency executives," said Brian F. Martin, founder and CEO for Brand Connections.

The expanded Snow Sports network will reach 50 million consumers attending 137 mountain resorts, for a total of more than 400 million media impressions during the winter season. Some of the premiere venues in the network include Vail, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Steamboat, Stowe, Heavenly Lake Tahoe, Park City Mountain Resort, Sunday River, Mount Snow, Jackson Hole, Killington, Copper Mountain, Sun Valley, Winter Park and Taos.

Advertisers can put together a fully integrated media campaign, from signage on-mountain, in-resort and in-lodge, to product placement.

"We have utilized both Keeplan Winter Sports and SkiView independently for several years with great success. I believe the combination of these two industry leaders into the largest snow sports media company in North America will offer us even greater reach, efficiency and impact, all through a one stop resource," said Martin Abrams, senior marketing manager for General Mills.

As part of the network's expansion, Brand Connections also announced that Michael Imhof has joined the company as vp of new business development. Imhof joins the company from Vail Resorts, where he spent the last six years as the industry’s leading expert in corporate partner marketing, strategic alliances, and licensing and sales.
